The Author

I think the best way to explain who I am is in first person.  So, I’m going to talk to you like a friend, using simple everyday grammar.  OK?

Mearle Haggard, the Hall of Fame Country Singer Song Writer has a phrase in one of his songs, “Lord, Lord, I’ve done it all”.  Ditto.  Along the

way, I’ve learned a lot of lessons … a majority of those by making mistakes, sometimes the same ones over and over until I finally got it!   Not smart.  Not fun.

In my past, I had my first company at the age of 21 (not counting the paper route and lawn mowing enterprises), started a long distance company in 1983, co-founded a software development firm in 1984, retired the first time in 1991, un-retired in 1993, and owned a restaurant in between.

During my career, I’ve co-authored a book about how to find a good job (Job Hunting Made Easy), trained hundreds, if not thousands of employers, salespeople, customer service representatives, and written software documentation and help systems.  I’ve been a telephone solicitor, done “door knocking” sales, taught over 700 adult Sunday School Classes and I have worked to feed the hungry via “Crop Walk”.

I’ve spoken to convention crowds, been an expert witness in both state and Federal proceedings, and married to the same wonderful woman going on 41 years, while we raised three children through college (now, of course, they believe they are raising us).

In 1983, I took up cooking as my hobby, beginning by studying and making pastries, mainly because I liked to eat them.  As mentioned my wife and I owned a restaurant, a white tablecloth Italian restaurant, specializing in all things Italian and real cheesecakes.

To stop this litany of my life, let me just say, I have had more experiences than most because I have been crazy (not advised) and smart.  I hope to share with you what I’ve learned so you can skip the crazy parts and become a fabulous cook.
